Hi guys. I’ve reached the point where makeshift rigs aren’t quite cutting it for my lathe, and need (pronounced: want) a self-centering chuck. Two pretty good deals right now on Amazon are either the Supernova2 $140+free shipping, or a Nova G3 $110+free shipping. Either way, I’ll need to get the 3/4”-16 adapter to fit my lathe, so that’s another $20.

At the moment my lathe holds 12”, and I’m not sure if I’ll updgrade to something larger in the future. Would the Supernova2 be overkill, or should I err on the side of possible updgrades? Either way, my next paycheck can’t come soon enough… =p

I’ve got both and am well pleased with each one. For the price difference I’d go with the Supernova2. It’s not that much bigger and you’d be set if you upgrade to a larger lathe.

I’ve also got both. I would recomment the SuperNova2. (my G3 now lives on a Jet Mini).

I’ve got a G3 on my JET Mini. If I was a big turner, I’d definitely go with the Supernova2.

I felt like that might be the better option, but my cheap side kept popping up. I figure $160 for the chuck and adapter is still a pretty good deal. Waiting on shipping will be agony. =(
