Topic tags/keywords: drill press

Hi folks,

I’m hoping maybe someone might have what I need just sitting in a junk box somewhere. They guy who sold me my used Delta benchtop drill press a couple years ago threw in a mortising attachment as an afterthought, but it turned out to be missing the “split ring bushing” that goes between the attachment and the drill press quill. I tried getting it through Delta, but they only sell the entire kit, not any parts from it.
The kit normally includes three sets of these bushings, for different sized drill presses. The one I need is the smallest one, for a 12” drill press. Anyone out there got the same kit on a bigger drill press and willing to part with the smaller, unneeded bushings for a few $?

Here’s a picture of the kit. The parts I’m talking about are the little semi-circles on the left.

Thanks
-Ben

Ah Ha! Now I see what is missing from the mortising kit that I have. I have an imported DP so suspect that even if I did have the bushings, they wouldn’t fit, but now I see what I am missing at least. Thanks for the picture

Ben,

I may still have the bushing you need. I take it you need the one with the smallest ID which would be the thickest one? PM me with the size and I’ll see what I can do. If I can find it it is yours for the cost of postage.

Dan, Thanks! PM sent.

Fred, glad I could help! My quill diameter is 2 1/16”, so if yours is the same you need the same bushing I do, which is the one with the smallest ID. I don’t know the sizes of the other two bushings though.

Just as a follow-up/correction… I measured the wrong part of the drill press (but the bushing set that Dan sent me was the correct one, and works great). The correct ID is 1 9/16”. I didn’t realize that the bushing goes on the part of the quill that you can’t see until you extend it, so I measured the collar that keeps the quill from retracting too far.
Thanks again Dan.

I took out my Delta Mortising Attachment and cannot find the 3rd split ring bushing for my 14” drill press. I used it years ago but now it is gone. I have the thickest one (1/2” thick) and the thinnest (9/32” thick) ring sets but I need one for the 14-070 T1. The quill is about 1-7/8” in diameter. Can anyone help with the missing split ring. I would be happy to pay for it.
