Topic tags/keywords: resource life race

You’ve worked Very Hard to get where you are…. Years of training to get to this Level…. You’re Competeting against the BEST there is.

....There is NO margin for error!

It’s the Ladies 600 Metre Race. The Entire Race takes about One and a Half Minutes. THEN…...At 58 Seconds the Worst Thing You could Possibbly Image, Happens to You!!

The Bell Lap ….and YOU Fall ….. Flat On Your Face! There is Only about 31/32 SECONDS Left. Do you get up and walk off the Track Knowing you have NO Chance of even a Decent Finish?

Do YOU pick yourself up, get back in The Race and do the best that YOU possibbly can?

Who’s The Real Winner? YOU tell me. The One that Won The Race, or the One that dug Deep Inside and came up with an ”Inner Strength” that took Her to a Finish She has every right to be Proud Of.

Actually …..Is this a Video About a Race …Or a Video About LIFE?

http://youtu.be/wWt3CmSIcKA

Thanks for watching. Comments are Most Certainly Welcomed.

Great post Rick, very inspirational. It reminded me of the race in the film Chariots of Fire which tells the story of the 1924 Olympic games.

Amazing.
We all know who the real winner is enough if the person didn’t cross the finish line first.

I’m Pleased to see that it’s having the affect I hoped for.

A little Inspiration now and then, might Shine a New Light on Our Problems. Perhaps …when we need it the most.

It’s ALWAYS worthwhile, trying to do the Impossibble, especially when eveyone else says it CAN’T BE DONE!

If it doesn’t work, You didn’t FAIL ….You TRIED! You probably also learned something from the EFFORT.

Great Video Andy! I saw the Movie. It left a lasting Impression in My Mind!

Thanks for your Comments Gentlemen.

You’re welcome Sheila.

I have to say though that I posted this as a Test to see who and how many would Reply.

309 Views and 8 Replies, 2 of them mine. Even most of your so called “Buddies” don’t bother. I just cleaned out “My Buddies List”.

Why that is I can only Speculate. A: People are only interested in what THEY have to say, if anything. B: You don’t have to be a Member to See, Learn, COPY and take anything you want from this site. I don’t think that’s right. Even if you become a Member, same thing. TAKE whatever you want… CONTRIBUTE Nothing.

My Post on “Happy Easter” was the same thing and the same results.

Sign of the times I think. We live in a “ME” World and if “I” have Nothing to gain ….Why Bother.

Well. That leads to “Why Bother Posting” anything that MIGHT be of Value. I Comment on a LOT of Posts Helping People with their Problems and do Extensive Answers for them. 90% of them are either no longer even watching their Posts or Not even a “Thank You”. This has been brought up Numerous times.

Before I Post on any of these Posts I go to their Profile. If there’s nothing there othere than the “Stock LJ’.s Avatar” and a “Site Name”, it’s a No Go!

There USE TO BE a Lot of Spirit, REAL Communication, Laughing, Friendship, and so on here. It appears to have Died a Slow Death.

I could go on and on but I’m Fed Up. These and “Help Posts” for the most part are an exercise in Futility. The MEMBERS that LOSE are the ones that ACTUALLY NEED HELP!

The ONLY Posts that receive HUNDREDS of Comments and go on forever are the “POLITICAL ONES”, and “POLITICAL CARTOONS”. They Contribute NOTHING to this site! Same Members Blowing a LOT of HOT AIR that means NOTHING! They should be BANNED, TOTALLY!! IMHO.

Not that anyone is going to read this anyway.

My policy is to “watch” every thread on which I comment, lest someone comment on my comment and I feel the need to re-comment.

I think you’re taking the lack of comments too much to heart, and drawing incorrect conclusions about the nature of society.

People are only interested in what THEY have to say, if anything
Excepting the fact that, in general, I agree – perhaps it’s just that the video etc spoke for itself and there was little to add – had a Confucius quote not popped into my head I wouldn’t have commented, but I read the post, watched the video. If the 309 people who’d read the post had all put in a “cool”, or “thanks” post, we’d have a huge thread full of, well, nothingness. Quality, not quantity.

You don’t have to be a Member to See, Learn, COPY and take anything you want from this site
True. Thankfully. When I joined I knew nothing and was able to contribute nothing. By being here I leeched information and I learned. Now, several years on, there are a few areas where I am able to contribute.

There USE TO BE a Lot of Spirit, REAL Communication, Laughing, Friendship, and so on here. It appears to have Died a Slow Death.
The site has changed to be sure. Some of it for the better, some not so much so. But i don’t think it’s died a slow death – I like to think that it’s just a little sick, but it’ll recover. But I’m an optimist.

The ONLY Posts that receive HUNDREDS of Comments and go on forever are the “POLITICAL ONES”, and “POLITICAL CARTOONS”.
And the ”...of your dreams”, of course.
I think those threads get the mileage because those are things people feel strongly about, about which they have opinions, and, let’s face it, a lot of people like to see a bit of brawling. Perhaps this video wasn’t as inspirational as you thought?

Even most of your so called “Buddies” don’t bother. I just cleaned out “My Buddies List”
Everytime I post a project I expect to see my “reverse buddies” making comments. Sometimes they do, but often they don’t. This upsets me everytime. But then I have to remind myself that these people are not really “buddies” – it’s just a mechanism to alert people to the fact that you have posted something, because, presumably, at some point in the past they thought that, in general, things you posted were likely to be interesting. Nowadays when they don’t comment I’m philosophical – I know they were notified, I presume they looked, and, if they fail to comment, I reason that they had nothing to say about that particular piece of work, and that’s OK – must try harder.

In conclusion, Rick – we’ve crossed swords a few times, I recall, without spilling blood. Sometimes I agree with you, and say nothing. Sometimes I disagree with you, and say nothing. Sometimes I say something.
Think “that video perhaps inspired 309 people, but even if it were just a single person it would have been worthwhile”

VERY Nicely said Sir!!

I can see that you put a lot of thought into your response. I Appreciate that.

The fact that you took the time to Post them here, I Appreciate even more!!

You’re also Correct in your Statements!

I have a Habit of Getting Very Enthused about something and then expecting “Others” to feel the same way. That’s NOT Reality.

Than You for your Response. We can “Cross Swords” any time you please because I believe we are both Gentleman and can do it without “Drawing Blood”.

After all …... I am wrong, every once and a while …LOL…

Missed this one Rick, and I could use a little inspiration right about now too.
Been a little busy.
About a year ago, I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy.
I had never even heard of it before.
It’s when half of your face is paralyzed. (think ex PM Jean Chretin)
Well after a few months I recovered.

Guess what? A year later and it’s back. Talk about frustratng.
It’s just starting and its progressively getting worse.
I have to tape my eye closed at night.
Taking mega doses of drugs.
Unemployed this time around.
So thanks for the inspiration folks.
I know I can sure use it.

I”m sorry to hear that. I hope things get better for you.

I don’t know if I can do anything to Help, but if I can please don’t hesitate to ask.

Good post, Rick:

Sometimes I need a litte or a lot of inspiration to get me kick started…..I haven’t had much here lately in the way of woodworking….This is fishing season, and I get involved in that during spring——fall, so I appreciate the post that you put on LJs…..I usually read all the post from my buddies, and others, but just don’t comment on all of them…..Most are things I’m interested in, but a lot I’m not…..so it’s kind of a crap shoot as to what I post on…..But, it’s nice when you do post something and people comment on it…..I also saw that movie many years ago, but had forgot sabout it…...thanks for the reminder, and the interesting post…..But like was said, I think people just get busy, and don’t spend a lot of time on here this time of year…I was busy all weekend long with things happening, so I know the feeling…...thanks for the post….. R.

Anywho, it was a “Play” on words. .... MOVED AGAIN!!! You guys still there? Oh Okay.

Same as this “Sign”. Now I ask you, or both of you, or ALL of you, .....hang on, I gotta run the tape back a little … Oh Yeah ….the Sign …. Is this a sign about “Good Driving” or “Sex Education”?

I mean…If it was a 2 way road it’s just Stupid. If its a One Way Road it’s Even Stupider! ... Oh Boy! So it must be about …. You know …....SIX with an E!! All these years and I never knew. Well! I’ll try anything once! Seems like a waste of “Motion” to me though.
