Topic tags/keywords: carving a burl

Five years ago, while bushogging one of my fields, I spotted what appeared to be a hornet’s next off in the woods. It stayed there year after year and finally last summer I decided to investigate. It wasn’t a hornets nest but rather a large burl on a small tree ( burl about 10 in. dia, and the tree 3.25 in dia). I am preparing to mount it on a bois d’arc base (piece of stump I’ve been saving) and thinking of carving some type of head from the burl.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks,
C.T.
