I posted earlier about signing work with a sharpie that would smear when coated with shellac, lacquer or varnish, due to the solvents.
As someone suggested, I test coated a piece of cherry with McCloske’s acrylic clear coat water based product. When dry, wrote on it with a sharpie and re-coated the piece. Perfect. Lines were crisp and sharp.
Problem solved.

I would usualy use a branding iron with a custom brand.
