Hell All,

Is there a magazine / plans service geared towards contemporary or modern furniture? I see that magazines like Fine Wood Working, Popular Wood Working, Wood Smith Shop, Wood Magazine and the likes don’t have much in regards to more modern and contemporary furniture; although once in a while they do have an article or two on this type. I have always wondered if there is a magazine whose main focus is Contemporary and Modern?

Thanks!

There are plenty of magazines that focus on modern and contemporary aesthetics… though usually not just on furniture (except the one that a1Jim pointed out).

Try Dwell, Atomic Ranch, Ideal, Modern,... just go to Barnes and Noble or whatever your local big bookstore is.

There are hundreds of websites as well.

As for making the furniture, well, that gets a little difficult. You can definitely dig up some books on Amazon about it; but I’m usually not very excited about the furniture in the “here’s how you do it” design books.

I build and own a lot of modern furniture. I have plenty of books and magazines archived just for inspiration.

dakremer has a series here on LJ that has mostly modern designs.
He gives the link(s) to the original article(s).
Maybe that will give you some ideas.
