Topic tags/keywords: question

I own a 1961 craftsman table saw that has a 1hp motor that hangs away from saw and is connected by a belt. T have no way(i called everywhere) to get parts for this and it bogs down and stops trying to cut, simple plywood It is a 8inch blade and very hard to find a blade. I need a new saw but was wondering how many others have a table saw that is vintage and how to find parts, i think its days are numbered though.

There are websites dedicated to vintage tools. If all else fails, you may find parts from other saws.

It’s not hard to find 8” blades, but most have a 5/8” bore….you may need to get a 5/8” to 1/2” bushing if your saw has a 1/2” arbor. Google is your friend.

8” blades are nearly growing on trees. You can even use 7 1/2” circ saw blades and get excellent cuts. Go here for the best buy on the planet for link belts—-made in USA. Treat that saw nice. It’s a keeper. Mine’s a ‘73 9 inch bench saw and it’s still like new. A blade and belt will make it new.

here in North carolina i cant find one 8inch blade, is ther a way to add on space to saw that would be even for cutting as it has small work space. I cant believe that craftsman does not recognize my saws number anymore.
