Good Morning all!
How did the makers of bit braces install the wood handle on them? Or better yet, how does one take the wood handle off? I’ve got a nice old MF and would like to restore it. I’ve spent time on line looking for the answer with no luck.

I think it was magic. Merlin did it by placing the wood on the shaft, swaging the “stops” to the rod, then bending the steel. He was strong too.

Check Brit’s blogs, he has a whole series on refurbing the things, great stuff !

Use the search feature at the top right of your screen, put in ‘the humble hand brace”
that should take you to the series.
