Reuse or Recycle?

tough question…i think the clincher for me is that you said—-you cant sell it for the amount of replacement wood…so recycle…but save it for something special..

I’m big on recycling wood from old things and using them in new projects. However, I do sorta agree with your wife. I don’t think you should recycle it by using the wood for something else, and I don’t think you should sale it. Consider donating it to a locale women’s shelter or halfway house to be used by someone less fortunate. You could make some cross members pretty cheaply and then donate the set and use it as a charity tax write off.

Hi Rob, from what I see you build some nice things, if this head board speaks to you for a project then use it.

I just jot hitched less then 2 years ago, we had to sell off some house hold items when we merged, my wife owns antiques so we kept most of her stuff and are selling my newer stuff. We are in our late 30s and own nice stuff.

We discovered that most people do not know quality when they see it, or they see something in a retail store and don’t care if it is made of MDF.

We live in the Chicago area, it took us 2 garage sales and a 3 week post on Craig’s list to sell a solid cherry student desk and chair for a wopping $100.00 the set was in wonderful shape and was in my wife’s family since the 1960s, the thing had dove tail drawers.

If your wife wants to do some good and get the set to someone needy then donate it and take the tax write off, that is what I am going to do with the American made dining room set I have, it is only 6 years old.

We will write it off at $1,000.00 vs. taking the $300.00 offer I got on it because “ya well, ya know Wall Mart got one like dat for cheep”.
