Hello, I am new to the forum and hope to be a regular user. I just recently bought the Harbor Freight # 98194 Miter Saw and right off the bat, the laser did not work. Harbor Freight sent a replacement and received today. Well, I am having problems with adjusting it and not sure with the screw arrangements, which one dues what. Has anyone been thru this process and able to ajust? I would appreciate any help. Jim001

I am not sure a laser of that type is worth fooling with. It seems, from what few pictures I could find in the manual, to be about the same thing that Penn State Ind. sells, and that is a piece of crap. The basic saw you have is a wonderful deal even without the laser. Tweak it so that it cuts true (easier to do and holds adjustment better than you would think possible) so that at least you can cut with it. If you have to have the laser do as I did on my 10” HF scms years ago. I used a HF 96401 laser disc that goes in place of the outer arbor washer with a longer (provided) bolt. It uses 3 button cells that last a good long time. With it, there is no adjustment. It simply shines along the left side of the blade and shows right where it’s gonna cut. I have used mine for 4 or 5 years with excellent results. Use a 20% off coupon to save some of the $15 price, or wait for a sale (inevitable). Got mine for $6. They are in store only, but look about, you’ll find one.
