I picked up this wooden torpedo level last weekend at an estate sale. I have searched for information on google and have come up empty. Have found similar levels for sale on ebay, however no information as to origins or manufacturer. I figured that it not terribly rare or valuable and someone on the LJ list must know a bit more about these.

The only identification is the Western Germany stamp on one face.

Anyone have some more information for me.

Thanks

Pictures should be visible at the top of the post. They are showing on my browser. Are they showing on yours?

My guess is that it was made in the U.S./British/French part of occupied Germany during the years after the Third Reich (1945) and before West Germany became a state (1949).

I think Western Germany makings were used through the 50s and into the 60s..I’ll have to look at some of the stuff at home.
I know I also have a saw marked W.Germany
