Topic tags/keywords: question tip trick

When you sell or give a cutting board; do you have instruction information for the care and maintaining of the cutting board for the customer?

If you do, I would like to see what you give your customer.

I have this written on good thicker paper and always provide it with any cutting board I sell or give as a gift. Feel free to use it.

Care Instructions for a long lasting Cutting Board

To Clean:

Scrub with soapy cloth or sponge, rinse quickly, dry thoroughly.
Never submerse fully in water and always dry thoroughly.

Oil your cutting board monthly to keep it looking new:

Purchase Mineral Oil from your local drug store. Pour oil on clean
dry board and lightly rub into the wood to ensure even coverage.
Let it dry overnight then wipe any excess oil off with a clean paper towel.

Over time, your Cutting Board will get a lot of knife marks. To make it
look new again, make sure it is dry and then lightly sand the marks out
of the wood. Clean off any sawdust and apply mineral oil as described above.
Repeat if necessary.

Enjoy your Hand Crafted Cutting Board!

The above pretty much sums up what I give out. I also emphasize to not put in the dishwasher. I also tell them to use one side for cutting and one for serving/display.

We engrave the “cleaning and care” instructions on the bottom of every butcher block and cutting board.
