Topic tags/keywords: question cherry finishing rustic arts and crafts

Does anyone have any experience/ideas on finishing over ink. I have a cherry box lid that I have indented and inked with the University of Virginia “saber” logo. I have indented the logo in the wood pretty good and then used a blue-ink ball point pen to outline the logo. The logo is very well defined and I am wondering if danish oil and/or wax will cause it to “run” or smear. Does anyone have any ideas on this. The pic is what the logo looks like on the box lid. Thanks…......J

Nice box Jay. It will depend on the ink – many inks will run/smear when a finish hits it. I suggest that you take a piece of the same wood, write a few lines of ink on it and let it dry overnight. Then take your finish of choice and see what happens – then let us know :-))
