Browsing Kijiji the other day, found an ad for some hand planes for sale… met up with the guy today and this was the haul:
Stanley #5 1/2 – Using the identification flow-chart (http://www.hyperkitten.com/tools/stanley_bench_plane/start_flowchart.php) , this plane appears to be a Type 7 (1893-1899).
Stanley #3 which appears to be a type 19, in very good shape, no cosmetic issues, sole is true and came with a new Hock blade/chip breaker!
Stanley 4, also a type 19 and in very good shape.. I didnt actually buy this one, he just threw it in to sweeten the deal (probably to keep me from low-balling him too much!)... I’ll either throw this one up on E-bay or convert it for a scrub plane or something since i’ve already got a few similar #4s…
Got the whole lot for $60, can’t complain at all! (Expecially since the Hock blade on the #3 is worth almost 50$ with taxes)... All three are nicely set up and tuned and freshly honed and ready to go too!
