Topic tags/keywords: porter cable 352vs belt sander

Hey everyone!

Been reading for a while, but decided to jump in with an actual account and become active and hopefully contribute in some way. Pretty new to everything, but built up a shop in the last couple of years that I am happy with, for now :) ... and it has been a lot of fun learning and tinkering. Hoping to learn more from all of you.

I do have a tool related question for all you experts out there. I have been able to pick up a couple of Porter Cable 352vs belt sanders for a steal! I am going to keep one and probably sell the other to a friend of mine. The two that I have are Type 2 and Type 6. The Type 6 is 8.0 amps and the Type 2 is 7.0 amps. They look and feel almost identical, but the Type 6 is in newer shape, not to say the Type 2 is in bad shape. It is in pretty good shape as well. The big difference, from what I can tell, other than the amps, is that the Type 2 was made in the USA and the Type 6 was made in Mexico. The bag is missing on one of them, but fits both so I’ll keep that with whichever one I keep. Which one would you all keep?

Use them both for awhile. Untill you put them under a load for awhile you will never know. I would lean towards the 8amp.
ME being ME (hoarder) I would keep them both for rainy day !

Yep, I’d lean towards keeping the 8amp. Or both.

They call it riding the gravy train.”

Sorry. Partly your fault. Expecting to see the Denver “The Wall” show, in May.

Back to you …. :-)
