I currently have a Ryobi BT3100 Table Saw so I have been keeping my eye out for a used Cabinet saw to upgrade to. I am aware of some of the better brands (Jet, Powermatic, Delta, Grizzly, etc.), but I saw this model on craigslist in perfect working order for $225. Considering a Jet or Delta runs about $800-$1000 around here, this seemed worth looking into, and the only other one I can find for sale (or for any type of research for that matter) is currently on ebay for $800. Does anyone know anything about Hitachi table saws (I have a 12” miter saw by Hitachi and have been very pleased with it) and is this as good a deal as it appears?

Any insight or opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Vintage saw. Higher-end import in its day. I have a Hitachi
bandsaw from the same era and it is very well made where
it counts… and a little flimsy in areas that don’t. Hitachi
is a pro-carpenter brand from Japan and machines were
generally meant to be taken to job sites so they are
built to balance portability with capacity. 110 volt generally.

That looks a lot like the Steel City saws.

I would say that is a nice deal for the money. Does it have a fence? Still a good deal even if you have to buy an aftermarket fence.

Have your say...
