The evergreen blew over last summer and disturbed the roots of the crab apple, about half of it was dead last summer

It is a crab apple or really hard cherry . The wood is white and It has a crotch that has about eight or ten branches all growing out of the same area. I am iin Indiana and would be willing to share with fellow LJ’s. If there are people who are looking to make saw handles, there are a couple of branches that have a very interesting natural knee pattern that might make interesting handles or totes. Let me know if anyone is interested and I will find a way to store and ship it to you. I will be using what is left to smoke some pig this summer. This is pretty fine smoking wood.

HamS,
It is sad to loose either of those trees, but both is a crying shame. At least you are able to put the wood gained from the felling to good/great use. I have a hand plane I’m restoring, I really, really, really, want some of the “Smoked Pig”!!!

Randy,
This is not the worst of it, I have to cut down three more that have fallen prey to the Emerald Ash Borer. I am buying and planting fifteen trees this spring, but it is still going to really change the feel of my yard. Notice how far away my neighbors are. I kind of like that.

They say; Fences make great neighbors. Well, Distance makes the heart grow fonder, works also!!!

I am sorry to hear about your trees. Will you be getting any wood from the three, that are to cone down?

I have to set my alarm for a 3:00am wake up! We are expecting 24 straight hours of snowfall, with up to 6”-8” total. I’m going to be a little busytomorrow. So, I bid you a fine farewell. ZZZZZzzzzz~~~~
