Wow, TWO topics in the same forum in one day!

Again this is really just an observation since I don’t have a problem with the advertisements that appear above or beside the info’ on LJs, but one today caught my eye.

It was for Anti Ligature Hardware – at http://www.relcross.co.uk/cats.asp?cat=143&gclid=COn7oqKZwa4CFUEMfAodSUxlfQ

Intrigued as to what it was that the advertisers thought I needed, I checked, and it appears to be for door and window furniture that cannot be used for people in institutions to use to hang themselves, or otherwise cause themselves harm.

This has me wondering just what I have been looking at on the ‘net that triggers the automatic software that analyses my potential purchases. Perhaps it has detected some dark feelings in my unconsciousness of which I am unaware.

Its got me a bit worried!

PS – later – and now its showing Panic Hardware !!!!

You’re getting targeted by a UK site because you’re in the UK. You
may have searched for “furniture” or a related term and the program
that rotates the ad in a theoretically targeted manner decided to
show you the irrelevant ad. The advertiser paid for it and is getting
ripped-off in my opinion since such an ad is inappropriate for this
site.

Sorry Loren - perhaps my tongue was too well hidden in my cheek, and you missed the topic keyword – humour !

Don do a little more thinking ,it may have been triggered by a slight panic while writing your blog ,you never know what they (who ever THEY are ) picked up when we are using these spy boxes .

Don,

It’s the way advertisers follow you through the various browsers. A couple of weeks ago my neighbor asked me about finding a good termite company and, since he is forgets things easily, I thought I would do the research for him and send him the links to the better sites.

Then, for almost a week, no matter where I went on the web I saw an advertisement for at least one, and sometimes both, companies. These guys are good and that is why a lot of revenue garnered by the browsers is from advertisers. Even Facebook’s revenue stream is largely based on advertisers. That is the state of the internet “beast” today!
