A rather unfortunate thing. I have several cords of this pecan. Not sure if its beetles or termites

Since you said that you have been starting on the lathe, this could make for some interesting pieces once you get some experience at it. I would say put it to the side for now and work with some other stock. If the urge to pull a few steaks out of the freezer and use some for BBQ, I wouldn’t feel bad about it though. It looks pretty rough.
