Topic tags/keywords: question I’ve gotten several offers that say “Do us a favor and test FREE Handyman Products”, I see this one is from the Handyman Club of America. Says dues are $1 a month. Just wondered if anyone tried this and if they do give free tools – or is it just a scam… -- Don, Royersford, PA |

“Handyman Club of America” is a real club. I had a membership, but let it expire. They did send me some free gifts for signing up, though I was not given anything to test. They do post results/testamonials from members that have recieved free test items. At least they say the testamonials are from members???? They are real, and do have some good info. I hope this helps. -- Randy-- I may not be good...but I am slow! |

I’ve received these on several occasions and would like to know as well. I beilieve that I saw a magazine from them a few years back and it looked OK. -- She asked me, "Who are you going to please with that?" I said, "Me." |

Well I should have thought to search the site for other forum topics, violated my own advice there. I put Handymand Club in the search box and got to several threads where they said: no tools were sent to try, the magazine is worthless and it was difficult to get them to stop sending magazines. So I have my answer, I won’t be joining. -- Don, Royersford, PA |

I also fell into that gimmick. Get a real magazine – you’ll be happier! |

I had a membership. I got some stuff to test at one point too. Nothing good though. Well, the little thing I got that you swipe over a fresh bead of caulk to spread it out was cool, and I still use it too. Other than that, I just got some stupid gimmick stuff. Don’t remember for sure what I got, as it was about 5 or 6 years ago. I wouldn’t waste my time, a subscription to WOOD or another magazine will be much better received each month! -- Kenny |

I agree with Dennis. Stay away. Scam, Scam and Scam. They will never let you have any peace. -- "Courage is being scared to death -- but saddling up anyway." |

They sent me a drill bit gage card. I did not join thought the card was cool but lost it before i could try it out. |

I did that about 25 years ago. I figured a dollar a month or I could buy the magazine subscription for $12 and the membership was free. I got half a dozen plastic drill bit gauges. I got a tube of Lloyd’s Akempucky and finally a rust remover/penetrating aerosol by the name of Frogger. I actully like the Frogger and Akempucky. I have never found the Frogger product for sale anywhere. It was a good product. The magazine was below what I felt I needed. I Doubt you will enjoy the club so spend your money on another good subscription. |

I was once one of them “Handyman” dudes – - – RUN, RUN, RUN! You won’t believe the junk they will send you for “a small fee”, payable in 14 installments. I returned everything they sent me, and they claimed they did not receive anything I returned.
