I am trying to get a old Jet 14” JBS-140S bandsaw I bought back in shape. The belt guard was falling off, so I removed the outside half. The drive motor/belt was way out of alignment. I got it back straight and tightened the belt. It looks like the inner half of the belt guard should be secured to the motor by one of the small screws that hold the two pieces together, and by set screws at the other end. I can’t get the motor back any more without over tightening the belt to align the hole in the motor to secure the guard. Am I doing something wrong, and should I replace the old V-belt with a Link style belt ? Any help would be great. Paul

Take a piece of 1/4 inch plywood and make a spacer to put under the motor. You can now move it to where you want it without the belt getting too tight.
