I have been building a coffee table and a desk from walnut slabs. My wife wanted them to have metal bases. Being a woodworker and not a metalworker, that poses a problem – how do I get a base for them?
I also saw photos of some chairs made by a woodworker recently that had an upholstered leather seat and back. That made me wonder the same thing – who did the upholstery?
I have a friend that will weld 2” hollow square tubes for the desk base. My wife posted a question on a local forum looking for help with the base for the coffee table – we are looking for something more like wrought iron. We got several recommendations for a local sign maker. We met with him and I think it is going to work out well. I’ll know more in the next few weeks.
It made me curious about where everyone else finds craftsmen in other trades to meet the needs for your designs?
