I came across a very large, old router plane at an antique store in New Jersey recently. The label said it was made of horn beam. It was about 9 inches wide, 5 inches deep, and 3 inches high, and it had a single iron help in place by a screw through the back of the plane. The screw had something like a wing nut on it so it can be tightened by hand. The price was about $85, and I passed since I’m not a collector. I can put you in touch with the store owner if you’re interested. Send me a PM. -- More tools, fewer machines. |
