I was at the local farm store today and they had the DeWalt 12” sliding compound miter saw on sale for $399. I am wondering if this is a good price and if the saw is worth the money.

I bought the DW718SP right after Christmas for 599.00 with a free stand. I love this saw and it was square out of the box. If this is the same saw I highly recommend it.

Sounds like a great buy to me. I opt’d for the compound miter but I didn’t like the DeWalt stand, too large, I got the Skil stand instead. Had to find longer bolts to anchor the saw because DeWalt’s are so thick. Works great and I have an 8 foot 7 inch platform for much less than the DeWalt.

$399 is a good price for that saw. If you miss the deal Lowes has dropped the price of the Hitachi 12 inch slider to that same price. It gets great reviews as well. You might want to look at a 10 inch slider as well – it may have all the capacity you need and 10 inch blades are a LOT cheaper.
