Topic tags/keywords: question cherry walnut

A guy I know is selling wood that was cut, dried, and shrink wrapped to protect it from the weather. Anyway, someone was going to buy it and picked up all the wood. Apparently, he had toke all of the shrink wrap off and then decided he couldn’t pay for the wood and dumped the wood back where he got, which was outside in the woods on top of 2×4 boards. The walnut still seems to be in fair shape, not wet, and the board lengths are about 10 feet long, and the width ranges from 8” to 10”. The length of the cherry is about the same, and the width ranges from 6” to 8”.

He is asking $3.50 per board foot for both walnut and cherry. I’m not for sure if this is a decent price or not. I’m asking to see what your opinion is. Right now the boards are stacked one board on top of the other, and undernieth tarp. Some of the boards are split in the middle for part of the length, and he said he would take that into concideration on price.

Thanks for your thoughts and opinions.

Im not going to say thats a bad deal but here I see both for 1.50 quite often.Usually you will have to buy quite a bit to get a real good deal.I would ask him to hit his bottom dollar and buy it all.

not a good deal, lumber market is slow, prices have fallen. expect to pay 2-2.5 for quality. anything of lesser quality 1.50
