I picked up an old moisture meter second hand years ago. The probe looks similar to this…
and the meter looks similar to this….
I’m gearing up to make a project with reclaimed lumber that’s been air drying since ‘96 and I’d like to know it’s moisture content. The only time I’ve seen an old style meter like this used was at a saw mill years ago and I recall the guy looking up some numbers in a table. I think he might have been looking up some kind of correction factor, possibly for wood species or temperature or something. Any body out there ever use an old style meter like this who can shed some light on the subject? -- Matt, Pine is fine, but Oak's no joke! |
