Topic tags/keywords: desktop finishing baltic birch water based poly question

Okay, I have a Baltic Birch plywood piece that I have stained and have added 3-4 coats of water based Poly (semi-gloss) to. I have sanded it fairly smooth and I want to bring the gloss back and then wax. It’s going to be a desktop and a temporary one at that. But I want it glossy and smooth. Should I continue on with a finer sandpaper or just buff? I last used 220 grit on it.

Thanks,

Craig

I will have a look at the grits available. Any good place to get up to 1000 grit at a decent price?

Thanks,

Craig

I live in a small town away from everything. If I need finishing materials in a hurry go to a auto parts store. They usually have up to around 4000.

Thanks for the replies. I will check the auto parts stores as well. I will have to post a pic of the finished product.
