When you search for information about hand planes on Google or auction sites, do you ever wish they didn’t share their name with those flying winged things that keep cluttering up my search results?

When searching planes I add words like “Wood Workers”, “Bench”, “Block”, “Smoothing”, “Jointer”.
Adding the word “Wood” doesn’t help much.. it just blocks out the planes made of metal, some used on a bench and some with engines.

Adding words as Dallas mentioned works well. Searching for woodworking plane on Google gave me no aircraft at all. But don’t forget that Google also lets you remove things by using the minus – symbol. So if one particular thing is interfering with your results, you can, for example enter -fly -flying -air and that will eliminate results with those words on the page.
