I have been thinking about making a picnic table for my back yard and want to make it out of something that isn’t going to rot or warp. I’ve seen lots of outdoor furniture at restaurants, marinas, etc that is made from the grey colored composite material. The stuff I’ve seen looks like it comes in standard dimensional lumber sizes, but when I looked at home depot, etc all I saw was 1×6 pieces that look like they are designed to be used as decking. Has anyone made a project using this type of material, and if so where did you get it and did you like it? I assume you can work it with standard woodworking tools?

I’ve made a lot of decks out of composite material it’s good material and last a lot longer than wood but it does have some down falls ,like it’s much heaver than wood and a table made out of it could be at least 200lbs or more, the second thing about it ,is that when it’s warm out it’s very flexible so it needs extra support when using it as building material .
