What to do with red oak burl?

My brother in-law (log truck driver) found me a nice red oak burl for a Christmas gift. First off is it in fact a burl?

What would you do with it?

16” diameter, roughly 10’ thick

yes it is a burl …. first wash it off and plane and finish the flat side. I’d spray it with clear gloss lacquer and take a photo of it … post it on here…. just to show all your lumberBUDS what it looks like…

you could just search LJ projects for “burl” to get some ideas

Simple, box it up and ship it to me.

No, seriously, if the hole in the center doesn’t go all the way through, that would make an awesome mixing bowl if you have the know how.
My grandmother had one about that big made of oak. I wish I knew what happened to it when she passed. I bought a lathe wanting to learn to turn bowls and just haven’t taken the time to mess with it much.
