The New 18-900L DP arrived yesterday from the carrier designated from Amazon. No problems they rolled it right into my garage/shop. Had a friend help put the head on, actually he’s a big boy about 6’5” 320lb so he did it alone I only guided it onto the column. Nice to have big friends, he was happy with a beer and a peanut. The table clamp handle doesn’t seem to want to thread smoothly (feels like it wants to cross thread so I don’t want to force it) I’ll probably chase the threads today with a die and tap (I’ve only got SAE so if it’s metric I’m SOL). I noticed that the chuck is the same as my Jet DP (JDP-17MF) I drill bowling balls with the Jet so once its set up you can’t change anything.. I’ve read less than favorable reviews on this chuck. So I’m considering upgrading the chuck to a Jacobs Professional Keyed Heavy Duty Chuck 14442 (34-02 I think) This fits the 2JT mount. I’m hoping someone can help direct me to the proper chuck. Only mounts for this chuck are 2JT, 6JT and 33JT this is for the size I need (.040” to .500”) Please advise me as to the mount that the Delta 18-900L uses. And it this the correct chuck to use?
The Delta 18-900L is listed with a Spindle; Taper Morse #2 and a Chuck Taper; Jacobs #3

Not sure what this translates to for a Jacobs chuck. It makes me think it’s a 3JT mount. That calls for a different chuck that doesn’t have the .040-.500 characteristics.
A 3JT has .125-.625 specifications. that means I couldn’t chuck any bits smaller than 1/8th of an inch. I don’t think that would be a recommended chuck.
Thanks for any help you may provide
