Topic tags/keywords: question planer jointer

Greetings! I recently bought an old craftsman 6 inch jointer/planer that has a serious buildup of gunk. Does anybody out there have any sugestions on how to clean it and then keep it that way.
Thanks, Jim

Try the Simple Green Pro HD (purple stuff) from Home Depot. I use it to clean saw blades, router bits, etc.

It’s non-toxic as well.

Goof off works pretty well, it does have a slightly funky odor.

+1 for Simple Green. I keep a jug of Simple Green and use it for a number of cleaning task including cleaning sanding belt.
