I haven’t shopped tablesaws for some years but my advice would be to keep saving and buy one of the big 3, Delta, Jet or Powermatic; or even a Grizzly. These saws look like very incremental upgrades to what you have for a whopping $600+. Both are probably chinese made. Within a year or two you will have again outgrown your tablesaw and will be looking to spend more money. If you save up and buy a quality hybrid saw, it will likely be the last tablesaw you ever buy. I know how you feel, I was in your very shoes a few years ago and I took the advice to wait and don’t regret it.

Of those, I’d pick the Steel City 35990 over the PCB270TS. The PC has a plastic elevation gear that would be a deal breaker for me. As mentioned, the Ridgid R4512 and nearly identical Craftsman 21833 are also valid options in that price range. These are full size cast iron saws (27” deep) with belt drive induction motors that weigh in the 300# range. They’re not at the level of a full blown 3hp cabinet saw but are a huge step from your little Skil saw. Every new saw in your price is going to be made in Asia including Jet, GI, Delta, PM, Grizzly, Steel City, Shop Fox, Craftsman, Ridgid, Porter Cable, Hitachi, Woodtek, you name it….

From this:

To these, is more than an incremental step IMHO:

hey thanks so much for your replies i was trying to talk myself out of buying the Saw Stop CNS175-SFA30 Contractors Saw 10 Inch Table Saw that’s about 1600.00 cause i am not in the business. it just for my personal use. but i do want to build some nice furniture. i did want to by the Festool KS 120 EB Kapex – Sliding compound miter saw also . so i was trying to slow the outflow of money.but in my gut i know you are right about regretting it later i know i should probably wait a little and buy a better saw thanks again ,sorry for rambling

Hello.

What I can say is, avoid the cheap one. Something like table saw is something you can’t just choose by comparing their price.

Does Delta still make contractor saws (or hybrids as they call them now)? I didn’t see any on their website.

No. It’s been a while. AFAIK, their last contractor saw was the 36-980 series, and their last hybrid was the 36-715 series….all pre-riving knife.
