Topic tags/keywords: question jointer

I found a Craftsman 113.20680 jointer that a fella is saying, “Make an offer.” It looks nice and clean in pics. Of course, I’d want to see it in person before I handed over cash, but I’m curious about how much it might be worth.

I’m going to try to attach a pic he sent me.

Ah, no… guess I can’t. Don’t have one of those pic hosting accounts, and it won’t let me attach one directly from my computer. Shoot.

Anyway, what say you?

Does it look like this?

Pretty similar, except it’s on a wooden stand, and has the original power switch (that one appears to have an aftermarket solution).

After multiple emails and his positive remarks about my offer for the jointer, he emailed me back a terse note saying he had decided not to sell.

Oh, well. I’m going to look at a used Grizzly jointer tomorrow. <sigh>

What’s the reason for you not being able to post photos? Is it a computer problem, or are you having problems with the site?
If we knew the problem, someone here may be able to help with that. Most of us here like photos. I know I do.

I misread the posting guidelines. I thought the site REQUIRES us to use one of the photo hosting sites to post photos. I now realize that I can post directly from my computer, so that shouldn’t be a problem in the future.

Thanks anyway.

In case you don’t know how, it’s easy.

Click the button above where you type your post and click “img”. Find the photo you wish to insert and click “insert image”.

One note, usually the computer jargon for your image will appear at the top of the post with an exclamation point at each end of it. You can highlight, and then cut and poste that text to anywhere in your post you want it placed. Just make sure to get the excalmation points with the rest of the test when you cut and paste. If not, it won’t show up.

@William, in my case I looked at the “pictures and videos friendly” link and didn’t see the “img” button at first. That’s why I misunderstood.

@a11Jim, I think the used Grizzly will be a good bet for me. It’s a heavier-duty machine anyway, and even though it will cost a little more, it will be worth it to get a better jointer. It’s a Grizzly G1182ZHW, about six years old, and from the picture looks to be in very good shape. I’ll get a chance to check it out firsthand tomorrow.

The 1182 is a very well proven design…same basic machine as the older Jets, Bridgwood, Woodtek, Sunhill, GI, Ridgid and others. Good luck.
