Came across this massive auction in Rhode Island, this coming Tuesday, 1/31/12, almost 1000 lots of woodworking equipment, tools and supplies.

http://www.irsauctions.com/index_lots.asp?pg=details&id=15521

If any of you lumber jocks are local you might want to check it out. There are a number of large lots of hardwood lumber, that are too large for me to store (400-600 bf). I’m hoping I can find somebody who wants to share Check out lots 335, 336, 337, 1382.

Let me know if you’re interested. I’ll be down there on Monday for the inspection.

Thanks,
Bob

You probably bumped into (or even bid against) my boss down there.

I guess the CNC point to point machine was quite the amazing beast.

Way to big for our shop.

We bought a dedicated 5 HP, 2 bag DC for our 5×10 CNC table router :^) It REALLY needs it!

Let me know how it looked … im in CT and have a few beans that i could spare for some nice hardwoods.

Sharing is caring.

ssnvet – I did bump into your boss, the guy wearing a Patriots or Giants hat. Oh, wait, everyone was. The day before the auction, the lads showed me a massive CNC working. Pretty impressive! Went for $70K, just outside my budget for my basement shop.

chrisstef – I was lusting after several lots of hardwood. Unfortunately, the auctioneers bundled 5 lots together “for one money” and it went for $2700. Only about $1.65/board foot but I wasn’t prepared to spend that much and am not able to store that much.

Sigh…

dang … i woulda had to sell the dog to get in on that pile myself. Ill keep me eye out up here in CT for lumber deals. They always like to sell lots of lumber and im just rarely in the position to drop $2K. You got me thinkin though … what if a bunch of us locals could get together and buy a big lot of lumber?

I just saw a lot of tiger maple for $6.50 bf and some rustic cherry too.

My boss picked up pallets of drawer slides for our mill work dept. for a song….

and a two bag 5 HP Dust Tek system for use as a stand alone unit on our CNC, since our central system sucks…. ro rather, doesn’t suck.
