Hey guys,
I’m close to puting a deposit on a Hammer A3-31 with a Shelix head. Apparently Hammer are factory fitting the Shelix heads in their A3 series and are coming out in April (Australia that is). I got a quote for $500AUS extra for the head and I know this will be some of the best bucks I ever spend.
I’m just wondering if they are already released in America and if so does anyone own one? I know some guys have installed the Byrd Shelix head in their Hammers – are you still happy with the performance?

Kind regards,

Andy, I can’t speak for the Hammer, but I’ve updated my Grizzly 15” planer and Powermatic 6” jointer to the Byrd shelix and couldn’t be happier. Less noise, less tear out and hopefully more miles of sharpness. Been using them for a couple of months, so haven’t been able to assess the longevity of the cutters.

I’d be shocked and awed if it won’t be the nicest machine you’ve ever used. They’re expensive for a reason. Congratulations.
