Hi LumberJocks!

I registered awhile back and figured it was time to introduce myself here.

I’m from Halifax, NS, Canada, married with one son, and work in the IT industry, but that’s just my day job – i enjoy fixing/building things way better than the office job, but hey i need the office job to pay for tools.

I’m relatively new to woodworking (so far i’ve just done some custom closet organizers, shelves, stairs and trim during the renovations of our house)
Essentially the renovations on the house are pretty much done, so i need something else to work on.

my first actual woodworking project is in progress now – a toy box for my year old son. It’s made of oak (red and white – basically i got some cheap leftovers from a guy finishing his woodworking career.) I’m doing this mostly by hand, aside from a tablesaw to get the parts to rough size, and i used a drill press to remove most of the material from the mortises.

Thanks for all the welcome messages after i joined the forum.

Looking forward to benefit from the wealth of knowledge here and hopefully provide some pointers at some point.

Welcome to LJ’s. Enjoy your stay. Good look with the toy box, and don’t forget to post pics when you’re done.
