Topic tags/keywords: question jet contractors saw

Well i know that i just posted about the Liegh Jig but here is the newerest addition to my shop. An old Jet contractors saw. From what i have seen so far i love this saw. it has a nice big 27” x 20” cast iron table, and accurate fence, a micro adjust on the fence, and the mechanisms are so much easier. The only problem is it has the original belt so there is a lot of vibration and i don’t get a very clean cut. I’ll have to get one of those newer link belt things. So here is just a quick video where i go over a couple of the features of my saw.

Thanks for watching, I hope you liked it, and any comments will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the video. A new tool in the shop always generates an adrenaline rush so I don’t blame you for being excited about this. It looks like a good saw. I am sure that you will have a lot of fun with it.

Enjoy.

Nice pick up. I like the micro adjust feature. I was never a fan of the link belts until I put one on my old Craftsman contractors saw and felt the difference, worth the $.

Definitely the machined pulleys help too. I bought the “Performance” pack that is offered for different saws for my old Rockwell. You get the pulleys and the belt.

thanks for the advice everyone, I think that i will upgrade the belt and the power switch. right now it is just a flick switch so i want to get a paddle switch for safety.

Where did you get it? It looks pretty nice. I wish I could have afforded a better tablesaw but this one that I have serves me well and the only downfall that I have found is power for the most part. You should put a video in with you cutting something with it to hear and see it in “action” lol

Tyler, i got it off of craigslist. the guy bought this one from his friend as he was going into pro woodworking but then another one of his friend sold him a powermatic with a sliding table and everything. so he put this one on craigslist and i got is. i will probably use it in my next video but i have to get a new belt first because the other one is really old and i get a lot of vibration so I’m not sure if it is the fence giving me a bit of rough cut or the vibration. so i need a new belt anyway so i just have to get one first.
