Can anyone help me find some material for making a cross cut sled? I need the t track or t slot or what ever it’s called, My table is a grizzly with a 3/4×3/8 slot. I need the aluminum to fit the track in order to build my sled. I’ve tried many sites but can’t find what I need. Anyone know someone who can make it custom?

You could make it from a hardwood. That’s what I and most everyone else does.

If you want a metal one, Rockler has one.

I would consider UHMW plastic. You can buy the stock in lots of places.

Dooley,

That is a standard size for metal bar stock.

Most machine shops will probably have it on their shelves and can cut it to any length you want and cheaper than having it shipped.

I agree, most are 3/8” x 3/4” then just drill and tap for some adjustment set screws and away you go. Check out Gords blog and you will see what I mean.

This is exactly what you are looking for. I use them myself and they are fully adjustable.

mine is made from 3/4 mdf, the runners are hardwood but i’m considering changing them to UHMW. i keep the hardwood runners waxed. the fence is 6/4 stock that is jointed and planed to get a square surface. To square it, I used my fence as a starting point and raised the blade up through it, then I sqared the fence on the sled to the blade using a drafting square. I would suggest either not cutting all the way through on the leading edge or putting a support or fence their too. If you cut through the front, the sled will rack and will be difficult to keep square while cutting.

I’ve made several crosscut sleds for my Delta Unisaw, and used a piece of hard maple for the runners. Probably have 3 or 4 of the adjustable metal runneers that I’ve bought over the years but never used-a complete waste of my money in my humble opinion.
Hard maple works great, just sand down any spots on it that cause drag, and when you’ve got it tuned, just apply a couple of coats of paste wax.
It moves very easily on the table saw runners, and is cheap to make vs. store bought metal runners.

For T Track, it’s easy to make, and there is a router bit for it. For the bar, you can get the metal one, but why?
