Topic tags/keywords: humor resource jig tip tablesaw

I had no idea where to post this topic. It fits in the workshop safety section; it fits (kinda) in the jigs section, certainly could go in the powertools and hardware section and would be cozy in the lumber section. But alas there is no What the… section. So I decided to post it here.

I was watching a video about a sawmill on Youtube when this “related’ video caught my eye. It was simply entiltled “Lumber Mill From Scratch”. Little did I know I would be riveted for the next hour or so watching this 8 part series with astonishment and wonder.

This guy is amazing. Amazingly good with his hands, amazingly inventive, amazingly dangerous. Im not sure if he is a genius, certifiably insane or a certifiably insane genius. And please, I’m not judging. But please let me know if you dont find his comment in the beggining of part 8 where he says “It doesn’t look too scary” astonishing!

Also in part two there is a very informative section of how to turn your drill press into a lathe. With the help of a sharpened handle of a file.

I’m not saying any more. Watch it for yourself.

Part 2
Part 3
Part 4
Part 5
Part 6
Part 7
Part 8

And just for the heck off it here is the orinal sawmill (horizontal bandsaw mounted on two car tyres) that he had built previously.

I can’t believe I watched all of them, and worth every minute! That guy is a genius. Did you notice the most precise measuring tool he used was a tape measure? Both of his mills appear to work very well with very flat cuts. Gotta love that Home Depot blade! Thanks for posting this: an evenings entertainment.

I felt the same gfadvm! I couldnt believe I watched them all. But I couldnt stop. Its like watching a trainwreck. The fact that he still have all his fingers is pretty amazing.

Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Ps. Can you imagine what someone with his ability can come up with given resources!!?? I work with licenced engineers on a daily basis with less than 10% of this nut’s (and I say say that respectfully) ability and creativity.
