I’m building a solid 3/4” mahogany table top and was wondering if I should be concerned with the wood expansion when securing the tops to these extenders.
From what I’ve read mahogany appears to be a pretty stable wood type.
Uh…..this only crossed my mind AFTER I’ve already installed the top.
TIA

Hey Brian,

Not sure if this is what you mean, but when installing the slides in fully closed position it’s a good idea to open them up a just a little before screwing them to the top.

If the wood shrinks that small gap will allow the top to still close tight.

Sounds like you are committed. Did you screw the top to the extenders without glue? It so, it should be alright as the screws can move around in the holes. It you doweled/glued the top to them, it may be a problem. They appear from here to only have about 18 inches of attachment, so this will minimize it some. At least it is not the entire length of the table. I know, just want you want, more excitement.

I would put some glue on the last 2” (Around the last hole) and then just screws in all the holes.
You shouldn’t have any problem.
