Off to Honolulu for R&R Jocks. Hold the fort till I get back & keep up the good work. I will be checking you out when I get back. LOL
PS. How much should I tip the cab driver, the bar waiter, the bell hop, etc.

Have a nice and relaxing holiday. The last time I was in Hawaii was on my way back from Carnes. I hope to get back to Australia soon. I will have to look you up.

Aloha! I just got back from Maui three weeks ago. The tips are just like the mainland. The tax is less than here in California though. You will se a ton of Koa everywhere. The scam in Hawaii is that they will try to get you to go to timeshare talks to give you $$ off of “activities”... so heads up.

I am jealous… Enjoy…

Grumpy, have a grand vacation. Take lots of photos I spent part of my childhood in Hawaii before they even thought of a freeway or a tunnel through the Pali. I even have a bunch of old 73rpm phonographs that are labeled “49th State Record Co.” Your post has brought back loads of fond memories.

Just tip a dollar or two depending on what it’s for. Meals are usually 15%. Taxi $3 to $5.

Have a good trip. Alooooha!

Gary has it right, dollar or two to the bellhop or the room service guy, I normally give the taxi guy at least 3 bucks or the nearest 5 and 10 – 20 % for wait staff depending on service. With the taxi don’t forget to tip for short, cheap trips too as these are harder on the cabby than a long one since he doesn’t make much money and he has to reset to a pickup point, usually at the back of the line. Have a great time.

Been to Honolulu about a half dozen times for work. Biggest thing is not to refer the “mainland” as US or states. Make sure you call it “mainland”. That gets the locals uptight. Tipping is the same as anywhere. Deppending on where your staying. There may not be any bellhops. Thats kind of area that hotels are cutting out to save on expenses. Alot of places will just point you to where the carts are stored. I useually get a company paid rental so don’t have to take cabs very often.

Have a good trip.
