I am addressing the assembled legions of upstanding knowledgeable woodworms out there and wish to ask two questions:- 1) who has worked with Australian Black Wattle and who has worked Bubinga?
I ask because I have come to the end of limited stock of Rhodesian Teak which was so good for plane knobs and handles, and am searching for substitutes. I can get Bubinga in the right thicknesses commercially. I have been given a small piece of the Wattle, which has a bird eye figure. Is the Wattle commonly found with this type of figure? Would Bubinga be popular with the plane loving hordes out there?
For comparison I have pictured the Wattle in question and a Rhodesian Teak knob recently made -I believe the Wattle could be a good substitute.
