Well here its is! the newest member of my shop.

i got it for 200 off of Craigslist, it was an older man who was moving and needed to clear out his shop, he was very nice and also threw in some extras!

A set of CMT router bits

the guide bushings and the DVD

and some dyes he had laying around

This is so awesome. My dad said also that he can get me some scrap wood from work so that i can practice. the guy had lost the manual though so i will order that from Leigh before i get started. Have a nice day everyone and your comments will be greatly appreciated.

very cool TeenWW!
I have the Leigh D4. I do like it, I just need to start using it more to get better at making the adjustments.
Mr Spagnuolo did a video (episode 27) on using the Leigh jig. you should take a look if you haven’t already.

i have Darryl but i think that now that i have a 24” leigh jig I’ll have to look at it again. i often find that i pay more attention to things that concern me than things that don’t and now that i have the jig i think i’ll get a lot more out of the video because i will listen a little more, lol!

not sure, I know that i will have 20 drawers to do this summer, with 12 of them being 10” drawers. i mostly just want to have the capacity when i need it. for now its will just be practice on scrap my dad gets at work to get me used to the jig. also i want to make a box for my dad and i think i might dovetail it. also have some figured maple playing into it somewhere! and since i want to start up a business soon after i get a table saw you never know what someone might want, lol!

This is a wonderful addition to your shop. I am sure that you are going to enjoy using this jig.

Have fun.

Oh my gosh. That is a great find. I haven’t found much luck on craigslist in my area. I am so jealous. I want a dovetail jig so bad. They looks so cool and I want to make some drawers with some dovetailed joints in them. You are so lucky. You should post a video on it sometime soon.

Good luck with it and have fun.

thanks Tyler, i will post a review once i get used to it. as Marc says you live and die by the manual so my problem is that i don’t have a manual. i have emailed Leigh though and once i get the manual and get used to it i will most likely post a video.

Congrats on the find!

Did you realize that you also got the updated lock clamps that make it more like the D4 jig. Those are the upgrade option from Leigh.

Have fun, John

thanks everyone, I remember my dad there who knows a lot about tools just saying that he had no idea what the heck it was but he trusted me and now i have this!

And John Ormsby i didn’t know that the cams were an upgrade. the guy talked about them briefly but didn’t go into to much detail.

You mean after your video on hand cutting dovetails and the practice you were putting into them you are going to betray us all and go the router and jig route!!! I am shocked and disappointed. So much so that I may have to go and make a few drawers on my own D4. Excellent find, congratulations!

I know Shannon, the jig and the deal just came over me, i was in the moment, I’m so sorry, lol! i like hand cutting dovetails just once i have a blanket chest to do or 10 10” drawers i will be much happier with a jig.

thanks Grumpy, I have been cutting dovetails ever since i got home from school (my dad got a piece of 6 in wide by 8 ft long poplar at work) and i have got to say that i am falling in love with this jig. I will write a review on it once i get some more use with it and try out the different modes. i might also do an instructional video on all the different modes once i get used to it and feel that i know the jig very well.

Update: I’ve cleaned off my jig and started cutting some dovetails and it is a dream. I love it! now all i need is a few replacement parts.
