What do you say to your wife when she proudly exclaims that she has found the PERFECT tools for removing that moldy old caulk and grout in the guest bathroom…your TWO CHERRIES CHISEL SET?!

They are tools, get the job done and resharpen as necessary. This job won’t ruin the tools, its an unorthodox task but a relatively harmless one. I’d be more concerned with the chisels ruining the tile.

Be loving as you get mad at her.

I wouldn’t have to say anything. She doesn’t have a ley to the shop. And Mark is right. It won’t hurt them.
Besides, you can get more chisels. Who are you gonna get to replace her now? Have you looked in a mirror lately?

I wasn’t upset…in fact, I thought it was kind of funny myself, which is why I posted it…not to mention the fact that I got what I deserved for not telling her how much I spent for them.

I came home once to discover my wife found my new dovetail saw was the perfect tool to clean excess thinset from the tile grout lines when laying floor tiles.

Poor saw has never been the same. There’s nothing to do after that—just let her finish. At least the tile got done.

...and you’re absolutely right, fussy, but I don’t have to look in the mirror to know how lucky I am! How she has put up with me all these years is what I call “one of life’s great mysteries”.

Tell her that her cheese grater is just what you need as a wood rasp.

That’s what you get for not giving her a proper caulking in the first place ;)
