Topic tags/keywords: planes

two weeks ago I was taking a drive to buy a used table saw and I passed a Flee market and made a note to stop by on the way back as you never know what you might find. I got lucky. I bought a Sargent #4 and a Sargent 208 block plane. Today I went to another flee market and got lucky again (Stanley Bailey #5). These planes are in great shape and drew a good shaveing without adjustment or sharpening with exception of the #4 which has a chip in the blade.

Hi Bryano,

You made a nice find. They all look in pretty good shape. If you keep this up you will have a entire collection of planes!!

Way to go.

I’m always looking for treasures at flea markets and auctions, regrettable there are a lot of people around my area who buy up these fine tools just to display on their walls, and never intend to use them, but I get lucky every now and then.

Hi Zipsss. I go to the one in saylorsburg Pa. mostly. there is almost always someone selling planes there. Also near washingtons crossing in Nj. ,thats where I bought the sargents from. I also got an old Dunlap #4 in Pa.
