Hello all . Do any of you do elliptical turning or know of somebody that does. Not oval turning. I am talking 300mm / 12 inches plus deep vases. I am asking this for a friend of mine that does elliptical turning. He has all the kit for steel and wood turning. Alas no computer thus not a member of any forum. I offered to help him find other elliptical turners out side South Africa. His Name is At Smit Regards Roger in Pretoria A Blessed Christmas and a very prosperous New Year For the Dutch members and those who still can read Dutch Zalig Kerst en Voorspoedige Nieuw Jaar

Hi Roger, I was going to suggest that you speak to At Smit, what a coincidence. I met At Smit years ago at Hardware Centre, he gave me my first wood turning lesson. He is an excellent wood turner, it will be interesting to see if any one can help. When you see At please send him my regards and tell him I will be at the next Hardware Centre demonstration in the new year.

I just started bloging sunday and have been looking for Ornamental Turning blogs. Roger please tell At his work is inspiring and I am allways pleased to see any OT work. I have been atempting Rose Engine work with a modified (24” swing) MDF Rose Engine. Can you find out how large his hollowing bar is, and what maximum RPM he can operate his chuck?

Have your say...
