Topic tags/keywords: question reusing scraper I was wondering if anyone out there has ever made a hand scraper out of an old drywall floating knife? Or, if it would even be something that could be done? -- Cheers and God Bless |

I have seen it in videos. I have never done it myself. -- Woodworking shouldn't cost a fortune: http://lowbudgetwoodworker.blogspot.com/ |

Yes … it was the first scraper I ever used (I have a set of Lie-Nielsen scrapers that get used now). I just removed the handle, tuned up the edges with a mill file, and burnished with a screw driver. The LN card scrapers are smaller (easier to get into tight spots) and a bit more flexible, but it worked great, and I still have it! —Gerry -- Gerry -- "I don't plan to ever really grow up ... Why not? I make micro scrapers form old razor blades so I think that you should be able to make one out of just about anything. c -- Chunk's Workshop pictures: http://spadfest.rcspads.com/thumbnails.php?album=135 |
