Well, I got rid of my contractor SS this weekend and bought a used Unisaw 3HP. I love the unisaw.

HOOOOOORRRRAAAAAAYYYY! Please do share more. I’d rather have your Uni than an army of SS. I’m curious what drove you to make the switch. You’re going to catch hell for this one, lol;)

That is a nice looking saw, may it be a long and successful relationship.

I am sure this will turn in to another WWIII SS thread. After living with the SS for a year I just decided that it was not for me.

Here are my top three reasons.
1. SS has big balls asking 2K+ for a contractor saw. I bought it but on principal alone it was driving me crazy.
2. I was turning the safty off allot for fear of tripping the break on a staple, wet wootd etc.
3. Too much time and money on my hands I guess. I like new toys.

It was pretty much an even deal, what I sold the SS for I was able to but the unisaw.

That’s exactly the set up I have, except my aftermarket insert is red. My only complaint is if you’re not using a dust collector the dust builds up inside the machine very quickly and you have to dig it out.

What is SS?

If you’ll take some aluminum sticky tape…the kind that heating and air conditioning guys use, and seal off all the holes and cracks around and under the top of the saw, and hook up d.c., it’ll perform a whole lot better and you’ll see a big difference…... I did both of mine like that, and it made a world of difference…

Beautiful Saw. Wish I had the room for one. ‘nuff said on my comments about SS, and Whirlwind. Just to let you know, I removed the blade guard – but left the splitter – on my Craftsman Saw. Yeah I know, “Getting real brave aren’t you”? Gotta let go sometime. Just have to keep my “hot dogs” out of the way.
