Topic tags/keywords: question

As you can read in another post, I just bought a small wood shaper.
It has no provision for dust collection.
Did you ever made one or have a picture of one for this kind of wood shaper?
Thanks for any help.
Bert

as I posted in your other post, its on my short list. I plan to make a hood that can be clamped to the back part of the table. I’ll be tackling mine by sometime by next week end. I have some stiles to cut and want to use the shaper, but don’t want the dust it creates without dust collection.

If you tackle yours before that let me know how it turns out. I’ll be watching this thread hoping someone has a better idea.

dw, I have a friend who does sheet metal work, I am sure that he could make one for me , but he is extremely busy and I hesitate to ask him

I planned to make mine out of sheet metal. I’m not much for planning ahead, so I’ll wing it. If I finish before you, I’ll post it and let you know where I made the mistakes :-)

I need to figure out a replacement for the duct tape, but i wanted to make sure it was going to work before I put to much time into it.

Nice job Don! Love the blast gate addition… :)

Only thing I would have changed is putting the port for the 4” hose closer to the bottom, it would leave less shavings in the pail.

Don,
If I was you I would rather use nothing than this bucket.
I believe that this bucket is very dangerous for your lungs as the dust hit the bottom of the bucket and comes right back in your face.
Without the bucket the dust just disperses all over the place, it makes a mess but it does not hit you right in the face.
Did you see what I did?
You are very welcome to copy the design.

My shop floor is my ‘dust collector’. I just vacuum it every 6 months or so!

Dan,
The issue is not the floor, the issue is your lungs; when and how to clean them?
